I'm able to start a ping to a remote server which works for about 30 seconds, then drops, reconnects, and works for another 30 seconds. I just tried switching to Direct Assignment, same thing no change.

I had called support yesterday and they suggested I try the 3. That didn't make any changes. I'm currently on hold with support to see if they can give me some more help on this. Posted 27 February - AM. Posted 27 February - PM. MIcha, appears to hit the issue. I was using the same creds on more than one connection. It would have been nice if I had received a proper error message instead of just being disconnected though. I had also spent some time with support who couldn't figure out the issue either.

I was being escalated to a higher level of support to further look into the issue.Businesses and individuals are increasingly taking Internet security much more seriously.

This means more people are using VPNs on their desktops, laptops, iPhones, iPads, Android smartphones and other mobile devices. But, the VPN software essentially puts all the eggs in one basket. If something happens to the Internet connection being used, there is no failover. The connection is broken. Your device is disconnected from the VPN server. This can happen if your cell signal suddenly becomes unstable or if there is an issue with the Wi-Fi connection you are using. Most VPN software does not use channel bonding.

This means that even if your device is able to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi and mobile data simultaneously, the VPN will only rely on a single connection. You should definitely try a different kind of VPN! The Speedify protocol is a new type of VPN for mobility that makes your connection more secure, faster, but also keeps you from getting disconnected. Speedify allows a mobile device, or a computer tethered to a mobile device, to connect to the VPN server via multiple connections at the same time.

Speedify carefully monitors the quality of the connections in the background. Because it was designed with auto failover, if any single connection is lost, all the data packets are automatically rerouted through another connection.

The use of multiple internet connections and several parallel sockets reduces errors, minimizes packet loss and allows the VPN to run much faster than any standard VPN is capable of. There is no longer any reason to compromise on speed and reliability for the sake of security. Why are you still struggling with legacy VPN software that keeps dropping the connection when you could be using the future of secure internet? Close the Content Dock.Perhaps this is the most irritating issue for VPN users on Windows. What is the cause and how to fix this issue? This article will summarize my findings and provide some suggestions.

There are three possible scenarios:. Refer to my previous article for more information on how to fix this issue. If your issue is 2most likely you are on a laptop and some intelligent power management scheme of the laptop has decided that there should only be one active connection at any time. The power management algorithm therefore decides to turn off the wireless card in order to save power.

If this is the case, try the following suggestions:. So how to fix the issue? The first step is to give the Wi-fi connection higher priority then the rest of the connections. If this does not work, the next step is to turn off the relevant Group Policy setting.

Run gpedit. If this still does not help, the next thing to try is to turn off the Network Location Awareness service. This is a Microsoft service that allows Windows to detect whether or not your current connection allows you to browse the Internet, and whether a login is necessary for example, on public wireless networks. It also disables wireless connections whenever it thinks they are not necessary, causing the issue. Disable it by opening the property page for the wireless network card in Device Manager, and choosing the Advanced tab:.

On one of my machines which still liked to disconnect the wireless connection even after trying all of the above suggestions, it was the iPass connection application for Windows which caused the issue. Virtual private networks VPNs have a vast array of benefits, but they can also suffer from some very annoying problems.

Understandably, VPN providers prioritize their paying customers. Even if they say their free VPN is as fast as their paid option, you might find that you disagree.

You may see your speeds increase immediately. You can read our full review of them here. The server you use for your VPN connection can make a big difference to the connection speeds you get. Most VPN clients make it easy to change servers. Just open the client, select a new server, and confirm your selection. You can then run a speed test or continue browsing to see if the new server is running faster. If you run a VPN through your routerthe process may be more complicated, and it may differ depending on your specific VPN provider.

If you remember the process you went through to set up your router VPN, you can likely access your router settings to change the server you access. The connection between your computer and the VPN server uses a networking port on your computer.

You can think of this port like you would a physical port; your computer routes traffic from the VPN server to a specific port, and traffic from other places to other ports.

It helps keep traffic from various sources separated. While you might think that every port is as fast as every other, you might be surprised to find out that occasionally changing the port your VPN is connected to will help. Try switching your VPN connection through different ports to see if any are faster. This cuts down on the time it takes to transfer information, but may also create a less-reliable connection. Keep an eye out for poor connection quality, though.

But if your antivirus program is scanning all of the outbound packets you send, it could be slowing down your connection. Disable it temporarily to see if it speeds up your connection. The simplest things are the easiest to overlook. In many cases, your inability to connect comes from a very simple problem: you typed your password wrong. Or you entered your email address instead of your username.

Again, try connecting to the VPN through a different port. One of the best ways to check this is to join a different network. Possibly even more irritating than not being able to connect to your VPN is successfully connecting and then dropping out.One user is getting disconnected times a day regardless of what internet connection he uses. They've tried it on a wired connection and wireless on a different network.

I fixed it! In the firewall access rules there were entries for SSLVPN to VPN that had been automatically generated, but there wasn't a green check mark or check box for "Enabled", and I couldn't find any way to enable this automatic rule.

I ended up creating my own rule that mirrored the function of the automatically generated one though slightly more specific because security is a nice thing and then made sure to enable it. As soon as I reconnected netextender I had access to the other side of the tunnel! Since it is one user. I'd say no.
